“Come…”

Blessings folk!

Paul is closing his letter to Timothy.
He had requests.
He gave Timothy an update on his situation and what had occurred

2Ti 4:9-12
9 Make every effort to come to me soon;
10 for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Pick up Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.
12 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.

Paul desired for Timothy to visit...soon.
Paul knew that his time was drawing to an end.
He wanted to see Timothy.

Luke was with Paul, but Luke was the only remaining.

Demas had abandoned Paul, and apparently the faith, by loving this present world.
He went to Thessalonica.

Crecens had gone to Galatia.

Titus had gone to Dalmatia.

Tychicus had been sent by Paul to Ephesus.

Paul’s requests?

  1. Come to me soon
  2. Pick up Mark...John Mark...and bring him. He is useful to me for service. The same John Mark that Paul refused to take on a trip. A refusal which separated Barnabas and Paul.

Act 15:37-41
Barnabas wanted to take John, called Mark, along with them also.
But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had deserted them fn Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
And there occurred such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.
But Paul chose Silas and left, being committed by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.
And he was traveling through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

Paul had reconciled with John Mark.

Paul knew the end was near, yet he was doing things in the present...and for the future...as we will see tomorrow.

Are we?
