“He Did According to All That the Lord Had Commanded Him”
Blessings folk! Noah is one of the “great cloud of witnesses” found in Hebrews 11.
Remember, we are examining each. What made them a “witness”? What did they do?
So far, we have seen that Noah... - found favor/grace in the eyes of the Lord - did everything that the Lord commanded
Now, let us quickly examine the account of the flood...
Genesis 7:1-7
1 Then the LORD said to Noah, ``Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time. 2 ``You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; 3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4 ``For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made." 5 Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him.
The Lord was leading. The Lord was instructing. The Lord was giving the timing, etc.
Noah and his family were alone in righteousness before the Lord. No one else. All others were evil.
We have seen before that the Lord had brought animals two-by-two. Now Noah is instructed to bring seven of every clean animal. Apparently the Lord had told Noah which animals were clean.
The point of two, male/female, was to keep offspring alive. The point of the seven, male/female, was to keep offspring alive and to provide sacrifice.
The Lord then explained to Noah. After seven days He would send rain. It would rain forty days and forty night. All living things upon the face of the land would be blotted out.
Noah’s response? He did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.
Do we?
