“Do Not Be Informed…"
Blessings folk!
The Thessalonians had some questions.
One was this…”what happens to people who believe, but then die before the return of the Lord?”
So much can be gleaned from this.
Remember, Paul was with them just a few weeks.
From these letters we know that Paul told them much about the return of the Lord.
Yet, apparently, he never mentioned dying before the return of the Lord.
Paul et. al. were anticipating the Lord to return soon.
Not imminence.
Expectation.
Some had died - gone “asleep”.
Believers are described as “asleep” rather than dead…life is yet to come!

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep,
so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
Paul did not want them to be informed.
There was something to be “informed” about.
Paul did not want the Thessalonians to grieve as the rest of the world.
What was the difference?
The True Believer has hope in the Lord.
We have hope in the midst of death.
The world has no such hope.
Sadly, many times I see those who profess to believe behaving as those in the world…hopeless, joyless, clueless.
Remember, our hope is in the Lord.
