“Curse God and Die”

Blessings folk!

The Lord has given Job “to the power of” the satan…the adversary, the accuser.

Watch what happens…

Job 2:6-10
So the LORD said to Satan,
“Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

And he took a potsherd to scrape himself while he was sitting among the ashes.

Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!”

But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Remember what the satan had said?
“If you attack his body, he will curse You…”

The satan smote Job with sore boils.
From head to sole.

What was Job’s reaction?
He was scraping off boils…ugh.
He sat among the ashes…as sign of uncleanness.

But, then we see more.
Job’s wife.
Such a lovely woman.

You did see her question?
“Do you still hold fast your integrity?”
She meant…
Do you still not blame God?
Do you still not find fault?
Do you still believe that the Lord gives/takes?
Sounds to me as if she were embarrassed by him?

Then, the statement.
“Curse God and die”.

I love Job’s response.
You speak as the foolish women speak.

Job “doubles-down”
Shall we accept good from God and not accept adversity?

Job rested in the Lord.
In all his misery.
In all the adversity.

He did not sin with his lips.

Do we?
