“Distress, Debt, Discontent”

Blessings folk!

David had to flee from Saul.
Saul was seeking to kill David.

David escaped and hid in a cave in Adulllam.

Read what happened next.

1 Samuel 22:1-2
So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s household heard of it, they went down there to him.2 Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.

When David’s brothers and his father’s household heard where he was, they came to him.

A man running from the King.
A man already anointed as King.
They knew it.

Verse 2 is a favorite.
So describes many folk today.
Everyone who was in distress…
Everyone who was in debt…
Everyone who was discontented…

Distress.
Debt.
Discontent.

They came to David.
He became their captain.
A rather large number to associate with someone the King desired to kill.

David is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is to the Lord that we turn, even as these turned to David.
