“Thousands Slain. Suspicion Revealed”

Blessings folk!

David prospered In all that Saul sent him to do.
David was placed over the military.
It was a pleasing sight to all the people.
It was a pleasing sight to the servants of Saul.

What could go wrong?

1Sa 18:5-9

So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and prospered;
and Saul set him over the men of war.
And it was pleasing in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine,
that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul,
with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments.

The women sang as they played, and said,
“Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands.”

Then Saul became very angry, for this saying displeased him; and he said,
“They have ascribed to David ten thousands, but to me they have ascribed thousands.
Now what more can he have but the kingdom?”

Saul looked at David with suspicion from that day on.

Little explanation is needed.
Saul was enraged with jealousy.
He was displeased.
The people liked David better than him.
The people knew that David was bold before Goliath.
The people knew that Saul as not.

The women’s cute little ditty spoke truth.
Saul had slain thousands.
David ten thousands.

The people did not know…
Saul did not know…
David had already been anointed king.

The Spirit of the Lord had left Saul.
The Spirit of the Lord was upon David.

We see the same type of thing today.

The Religionists are angry.
They are resentful.
They are suspicious of those filled with the Spirit of the Lord.

The Religionists, in the way of Saul, are filled with fear.
The Spirit-filled, in the way of David, rest in the Lord and do His biding.
