“Destined for Afflictions”

Blessings folk!!

Do you expect afflictions?

Do you know that afflictions will come your way if you are Believer?

We are seeing it more and more.

The western world is exploding in persecuting people of faith.

Be not surprised.

Paul had warned the Thessalonians.
He warns us.
Paul reminded them.
He reminds us.

1 Th 3:1-5

Therefore when we could endure it no longer,
we thought it best to be left behind at Athens alone,

and we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ,
to strengthen and encourage you as to your faith,

so that no one would be disturbed by these afflictions;
for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.

For indeed when we were with you, we kept telling you in advance that we were going to suffer affliction; and so it came to pass, as you know.

For this reason, when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be in vain.

Paul sent Timothy to strengthen and encourage them in the faith.

Why?

So that no one would be disturbed by the afflictions.

Afflictions will come.
We are destined for them.

Strengthening, exhortation and encouragement in the faith is the antidote.

Paul had warned them.
We stand warned.

Paul was concerned.

He feared that the temper…the enemy…might have tempted them.
He feared that their proclamation of faith might prove to have been word only.

He rejoiced to find otherwise.
They believed.
They pressed on in the faith.
They lived the faith.
They proclaimed the faith.

May we do likewise.
