We often forget that Jesus was a man.
He had emotions.
He had feelings.
He was tempted with fear.
He suffered hard things.

In these passages we see a hard thing.
John had been arrested. It would end in glory.

What did Jesus do?

He departed to Galilee.
To hide?
No.
To preach the Gospel.

Why did he depart to Galilee?
Because Father told Him to - John 17.

Jesus went “in the power of the Spirit”.
The news of His return spread throughout the countryside.

Matthew tells us that when Jesus heard of John’s imprisonment He went to Galilee.
Mark tells us that He goes to Galilee and proclaims the gospel of God.
Luke tells us that that Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit.
John gives us insight into the politics of the situation.
  • Jesus learned that the Pharisees heard that Jesus was baptizing more folk than John
  • They had arranged for John’s arrest. Jesus would be next.
  • We see that Jesus did not do the actual baptizing...I’ve been alluding to this the past couple of days...His disciples baptized.
  • Jesus left.

Do you see the need to get the full counsel of the Word of God?

May we be as Jesus who did everything in the power of the Spirit.
