“The Star”

Blessings folk!

Magi from the east had arrived.
Herod had heard.
Herod sought to know what their arrival and pronouncement of a king meant.

Mat 2:7-10

Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them
the exact time the star appeared.

And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”

After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

Herod wanted to know the timing of the appearance of the star.
Why?
We will see…ok…he wanted to know what age children to kill.

Herod feigned interest in the child king, to worship him.
The truth was that he wanted to kill the baby.

Upon departing from the king, the magi again saw the star.
A very proprietary, one-off star that appeared with great precision…over the place where the child was.
This is the major reason that I do not believe that is was a star as we understand a star.
Nor was it a convergence of the zodiac.
It was likely a manifestation of the shekinah glory of the Lord that led the magi.

They rejoiced when they saw the star.
They knew that the Lord was leading them.
They knew that they would soon see the king.

So shall we.
Are we ready?
